Description

This Introduction to Silk Painting is for both creative novice, skilled artisan and everything in between. No experience is required; just an interest to learn and a willingness to tap into your most creative self. Projects created in class will be finished items as described, but will also lend themselves to being incorporated into other creative projects.  All supplies, materials and tools needed to complete a finished piece are provided. An opportunity to discuss the possibilities for future projects will be available, in addition to providing detailed information where to order supplies. Some additional supplies may be made available for purchase as “take home projects”.

Brief Trunk Show & Demonstration of the process, supplies, materials and finishing steps

Create A Hand-Painted Silk Scarf & A Creative Silk Art Piece (Supplies included for 2 finished projects)

o Silk Scarf -11” x 60” (choice of techniques including Arashi Shibori & Serti method)

o 18” Silk Art Piece of Student’s Design Choice—Suitable for framing or incorporating in other textile projects

No supplies needed for this class. Kit fee paid directly to teacher day of class (Check or Cash)

$25 Kit fee includes an 11 x 60” 8 mm Habotai Scarf, ½ yard of 8 mm Habotai silk, sample silk squares for practice, Paint, Fixative, Gutta  

Supplies needed for 2 finished projects available during class

Additional supplies will be available for purchase during class ( ranging in prices. additional white silk- $10 per yard, blank silk scarves various sizes ranging from $6 - $10 each , silk paint kits, ranging from $10-$20 , Gutta - $4, a selection of finished silk scarves, priced from $25-$55. )
