Volunteers will make the WMQFA Winter Quilt Show a success!
Hanging Quilts:
Day & Time: Friday, February 9, 2024: 9am to 12pm
Volunteers needed: 12-15 people who are physically able and have the ability to climb ladders and carry heavy quilts.
Description of work: Volunteers will be unfolding, laying out, organizing, attaching hangers and labels, and hanging quilts.
White Gloves:
Day & Time: Saturday, February 10, 2024; 9am-10:30am, 10:30-12pm, 12-1:30pm, 1:30-4pm
Volunteers needed: 12 people for 90 minute shifts, two volunteers for quilt display area and one volunteer for Challenge Quilt display and rest area per shift.
Description of Work: Browse your assigned quilt aisles to help visitors by flipping quilt corner up to see the back, keep things in order, discourage touching of items by visitors, and answer questions. You may change aisles or location with your partner volunteers. Volunteers monitoring Challenge display should encourage people to vote for Viewer’s Choice. White gloves provided at Show Desk.
Admission Desk:
Day & Time: Saturday, February 10, 2024; 8:30am-11am, 9am-11:30am, 11am-1:30pm, 1pm-3:30pm.
Volunteers needed: 7-10 people for four 2.5 hour shifts.
Description of work: Duties include punching tickets for admittance and stamping hands for re-entry, monitoring entrance door, and answering questions.
Show Desk:
Day & Time: Saturday, February 10, 2024
Volunteers needed: Door Prize Coordinator, 1 per shift for AM and PM. Drawings are at 10:30am, 12pm, 1:30pm, and 3pm
Description of work: Answer questions for vendors and visitors, make announcements
At-Large Volunteers:
Date & Time: Saturday, February 10, 2024; 9am-11am, 11am-1pm, 1pm-3pm
Volunteers needed: 6 people, two people per two hour shift
Description of work: Visit booth vendors for restroom breaks, direct people to coat racks, lecture rooms, etc., monitor Challenge Quilts and rest area, assist at Admission desk or in Exhibit Hall as needed and other duties as assigned. Could text when needed.
Education/Classroom Assistants:
Date & Time: Saturday, February 10, 2024; 9:30am-11:30am, 11:30am-1:30pm, 1:30pm-3:30pm
Volunteers needed: 6 people, two people per two hour shift
Description of work: Hall monitor by classrooms, count people in rooms, help speakers set up, introduce speakers, help with holding quilts, collect evaluations.
Quilt Take Down & Return:
Date & Time: Saturday, February 10, 2024, 3:30pm-4:15pm for take-down, 4:30pm-5:00pm for artwork return, 5:00pm-5:30pm complete boxing for return to museum
Volunteers needed: 8-10 people
Description of work: Assist with take down of quilts including ladder climbing, removal of hangers, folding, label tables A-Z, and box alphabetically for piecing returning to museum. Assist people with retrieving their artwork.
