About the artists

Rachael Dorr is a textile artist who works to create rich textures using her hand-woven fabrics, recycled materials and a longarm quilting machine. Using primarily white fabrics & threads, her pieces draw the viewer in to study the precise, rich detail of her work. Rachael is a member of the Manhattan Quilters Guild and an active member of the Textile Study Group of New York. Her work has been exhibited around the world. You will often find her longarm quilting on show at national quilting shows.

Robin Schwalb’s graphically compelling quilts are a dynamic mix of digital and analog techniques. She combines manipulated and collaged photography with traditional crafts such as stenciling, screen-printing, patchwork, appliqué, and quilting. Her work balances personally meaningful images with evocative language drawn from a variety of authors. The "found art" of these texts becomes commentary—sometimes direct, sometimes ironic. Schwalb’s subject matter is inspired by her travels, the urban environment, film and video technology, mannequins, and even language itself.

Meg Cox is an Ohio-born veteran journalist, author, quilter, and traditions expert, widely recognized for her influential work on family traditions and modern quilting. After graduating from Northwestern University in 1975, she began her career as a staff writer at The Wall Street Journal in 1977 at just 24 years old, working in both Chicago and New York for 17 years. During her tenure at the WSJ, Cox contributed hundreds of front-page stories covering a wide range of topics, including financial futures, agriculture, the arts, and publishing.

Since 1994, following the birth of her son Max, Cox has written for numerous national magazines, lectured across the country, and authored five books. Her two main specialties—family traditions and quilting—are explored through a unique blend of personal experience, thorough research, and creative insight. She has served as a traditions spokesperson for major companies such as Pillsbury, KFC, and Hallmark.

Cox’s expertise in quilting is built on 25 years of passionate practice, a decade-long tenure on the board of the national nonprofit Quilt Alliance (including six years as president), and her popular monthly e-newsletter, Quilt Journalist Tells All. She appeared in the 2011 documentary "Stitched" and continues to contribute weekend arts features to the Wall Street Journal.
